various divinatory approaches to performance method,
seeking answers to 'hidden' truths thru use of vipassana
meditation, butoh dance, brain frequency machinery,
tarot...his research include e.v.p,haunted spaces,
using sound, film drawings and writings..he believes
that the answers to life are within the darkness
of the self...and to access them one must go beyond

Undoubtedly
the right hand man,matt gray has developed the testcard
'sound' and redesigned the website in recent years,
his work on the electronic voice phenomenon project
- nosferatu was groundbreaking as well as 'the turbine
rooms' recordings from the tate modern perfomances.
He has become a key figure in the 'transmit project'
brain frequency experiments in berlin and kiev. As
well as his work with testcard, matt is a performer
and digital artist in his own right composing for
film and performers such as the butoh master Masaki

Lepke
b's blissful disregard for the sacred in life has
placed him as one of the testcard knights.His totally
unique approach to sound plunderphonics and visual
art have led him to work with some of the most respected
people in his field,including the Turntable Hell tour
with Otomo Yoshihide. Lepke broadcasts intermittently
on Londons Resonance Radio as The Hand of Glory.and
his band...'die trip computer die' are set to release
their 4th album in 2006. Lepke appears on many of
testcard's recordings and continues to make guest
appearances on the testcard radio show each month... |
Malcolm
has pioneered the 'transmit' project from its early
beginnings in russia 2001.A digital artist and sculpture
in his own right, Malcolm is continually sought after
for his 'hand on' approach to interactive art forms..his
work with the physically impaired has led him to co-form
his own company 'sensable media' with his partner

New York professor of social psychology,doctor of
mathematics,writer and performer,marti was an enigma
in his own lifetime,always preferring the 'common
man' to the hi-fliers of life...marti provided often
'political' vocal onslaughts to many of testcards
early performances...

brought up in a zen buddhist monastary,tim turned
his early training into ear splitting sonic onslaughts
at many of testcards performances, later preferring
to utilise his unique 'sub bass' vocals on spoken
word performances...particularly on 'no more hiroshimas'
at the phoenix gallery, brighton... |
Ian
helliwell was the seminal tape loop and electronics
expert behind testcards early performances. He featured
on the notorious exorcist transmission amongst others.His
own label Geiger Counter specialises in abstract film
and soundtrack production. Ian now performs regularly
around Europe,notably the Avanto festival in Helsinki. |
Simon
Wade,the earliest testcard performer, contributed
the industrial percussion to amongst others the BBC
maidevaille recordings and the JSA performances at
the Albert in Brighton. Simon went on to start his
own label based in London producing his own music
specialising in dub. |
Esther
Hoyuelos is a butoh dancer. She performed with testcard
in Kiev for the transmit project. Her butoh training
with masters such as Masaki Iwana and unique performances
have made her highly sought after in dance. |
